Interesting Tyre Failure

Sorting through some old photos, came across this shot of a tyre I had to replace. Had one previously like it in Scotland, but no photo then.

Wonder how common it is? Guess the tyre shops would have a pretty good idea.

Update on gOS

A couple of posts back I was impressed with gOS, still am, but they have a bit of work to do I suspect to make it a bit easier to configure.

Also, if you had a u beaut machine with the right video card, you can get some fancy desk tops, my old XP2600 and its GE Force something or rather nvidia card doesn't make the grade :-(

I will be helping someone put it on a P11 350 with 512 MBytes of RAM. I might get a better idea then of what it is like for Joe Blow.

See Walmart is selling a US$199 computer with gOS, processor is Via C7-D. That's what I would like to have! Could keep my computer on all day and night without feeling too guilty about burning up the electricity.

gOS

Downloaded gOS and booted from the CD. First impressions...Cool

Tried YouTube, need Flash, that took a bit of thinking until I found that the "Start Leaf" alloed access to what seems most of the Ubuntu functions.

Thought this was a good 40 second movie, (see the last 5 seconds!)




They might just have themselves a winner here.

Cycling over the Sydney Harbour Bridge

To get on to the Sydney Harbour Bridge by bike, find Argyle St. It is marked on the map below, and the pin shows the start of the ramp.

Now click on the photo below for an enlargement and you will see the ramps yellow railing. Follow that and you are on your way.





It is a great ride with steps at the northern end, mountain bikers could no doubt ride down them! The view is stupendous.

The Gong 4 Nov 2007

Last year I did the 56 Km Gong ride, it was hard enough given the gale force southerleys that we had to ride into. See Last Years report

This year I resolved to do the 90 Km and did so, Hoorah!

Vital statistics were;

Time: 6:52:46 (great fun having a computer)
Dist: 85.9 Km
Max : 59.7 Km.Hr

Three hours before the race started, it stormed like the end of the earth was about to come, nearly chickened out but it was nice and overcast by 5:30 am so rode over to St Peters from Coogee with what seemed to be several hundred other riders all heading in the same direction.






This shot is about 100 metres from the start, it had started to rain, so the large tent made a good cover. As the day wore on, the weather improved and it really was a nice ride, sore bum notwithstanding.

The ride was in aid of the MS Society, they went close to the million dollar target.
