Signposting is one of those coffee table books. Yet another book given to me by my daughter who thinks I either don't read enough or lacks any form of humour :-)
Guess we all have a interest in some of the more out of the ordinary signs. I have started collecting a few in my Signs folder on Picasa.
And for the collectors of ISBN Barcodes, here it is. The Book was compiled by Doug Lansky.

The Rains and Breakfast
A Sign of The Times
Personally I think it is a sad indictment of society when whole warehouse size buildings are devoted to the sale of grog. The building below has 1000+ square meters of floor space
I pay as few voluntary taxes as possible, so this shouldn't worry me, but it does.
Governments love the taxes from grog, smokes, gambling and fuel. Gives government an incentive to aid alcoholism, create lung cancer, destroy families with gambling, and pollute the world with burnt gasoline. Hypocrisy gone mad.

Still Cycling at 90
He was 89 last year. By the magic of passing of time, he is now 90.
As I said last year, if I am doing the same at that age, I will be pleased.
Good onya Herb

Peace in Our Time
Not as infamous as Neville Chamberlain's Peace in our time quip, but the headline below from the Canberra Times, 16 Dec 2007, struck me as being in the same genre.

A Boat no More
A couple of weeks ago we had rain the likes of which we have not seen for decades!
Here is a shot of our local creek, just to prove to future generations that it has burst its banks.
And a bit further on, the boat below must have been washed away from somewhere into this flood channel.
Rode past it yesterday and it has been smashed to smithereens.
Guess that's why I take my pump. speedo and water bottle off my bike when I duck into the shops. A sad reflection on society!

Some Things Move Fast
This chart turned up in the mornings newsfeed. (See the API).
Twelve hours later there's a Perl module to take advantage of it.
Phew, that was fast! (well it's all relative)

The Easy Way
Sometimes when it is too wet, too far or too much, we have the option of putting our transport on the bus. Action is our local government bus agency and they are really doing a good job at being green, even painting the gas powered buses green, the diesel buses are an orangy colour. See the Action website for more details.
With a pensioner concession card, I can as of the time of writing, get an off peak ticket for AUD 1.40, bike is free and takes about 20 seconds to load.
The picture shows my toy bike, a cheapy Giant with the rear clustered wheel replaced with a cassette wheel, sealed bottom bracket and a couple of other goodies which makes it over priced. However as I don't own a car, so what, I do 8000 Km a year and might as well play with it as well as ride it :-)
