Sometimes You Wonder
I must have been over this path a thousand times in the last few years, coming and going to the shops. A totally unmemorable section of path, unlike other sections full of roots and other cracks.
So imagine my surprise to find it all dug up ready for repair. I call this a wanton random acts of maintenance, I daren't ask why. Shot taken 25 Aug, resurfaced 27 Aug.

Dedication Ceremony
Tuesday, 19 August 2008 saw a service at the Australian War Memorial to all those RA Sigs units that served in Vietnam, 65-72.
There was a good turnout and the sisters of our three fallen were also present. Events of 40 years ago seem just like yesterday.
The plaque will be fixed to the ground in the near future to join all the others.

QR Code - More!!
I *discovered* QR Codes about six weeks ago, now I find that the API for Google Charts includes QR codes.
cht=qr
chl=<text to encode>
choe=<output encoding>
Specify chart size with chs=x,
For example, chs=300x200 generates a chart 300 pixels wide and 200 pixels high
Click on http://xemoth.blogspot.com/2008/07/qr-code.html and you will get that link's QR Code.
Still haven't worked out what to do with it yet!

Global Warming?
On the path to the shops, I cross a bridge that spans our local creek. Lots of workers working, so I ask the traffic warden, "what you doing?" and I thought I heard him reply, "Widening the expansion joints"
Mmmm, methinks, a change in design standards, an original design error, or preparing for global warming? Al least the pollies can say "We are fixing global warning!"

Nice to have a sit down job, but on reflection, maybe they were just cleaning it out. |

Encladus and all that
It was my birthday the other day, yet another outstanding non event but I was doing some reading and found the first shots of Enceladus were taken during a fly by on that auspicious day.

A Bit Behind
Went away on the 22 Jul and returned 29 Jul. Was gonna write about the great trip north to the warmth of Cairns, but time kinda got away from me.
Leaving Cairns, the local rag, The Cairns Post ran the headline..."The Big Freeze" and warned readers to rug up for 11 degrees C !!!!
Put some photos here.
All in all a good trip to see the old home town, it has grown from 14,000 to 140,000 so there is not too much the same. Wont be going back, not too many memories left there now.
