Catarpillar 20100321
The caterpillar that was the subject of previous blogs, disappeared we know not where. But a second caterpillar nearer to the fence converted itself into a cocoon I guess. It has been there for a couple of weeks. Goodness knows how long we need to wait to see what happens.
We suspect that one that was on the lime tree has done a similar trick, but camouflaged itself so well that we cannot see it.

Well today's development is that our caterpillar has eaten the leaf it has been sleeping on or hiding under.
The house has also now been invaded by millipedes, and we wonder if this anything to do in the the development cycle of those thinggies, or the rain, or the forthcoming emergence of a butterfly.

Caterpillars Do have Homes
We have been watching the progress of life in the butterfly world.
First there was a lovely butterfly that flew around for ages, checking here and there for somewhere to lay its egg(s?).
Eventually it settled on a lime tree and life began again.
The image above is interesting, the caterpillar seems to be highly organized, sleeping in exactly the same place every night or day, eating in the same area and pooping in a different place.
The photos were taken about a fortnight ago, It is 35 mm in length now and I think about to fly the coop if that is a relevant phrase.
