For the 22 years we have lived in this house, there has been a star picket that was impossible to remove.
It was driven in beside a tree. About 13 years, reasons we had to remove the tree, but the stump was left in the ground.
I drilled holes in the stump and filled it with salt.
Only in the last couple of months has the stump "suddenly" rotted and the star picket was removed. You can see from the photo how the root had wrapped itself around the picket. No wonder it was impossible to move!
