Anti Bush Demo - 8 Sep 2007

Georgie Bush came to Sydney town for an APEC conference. The usual demos with a strong police presence and a gaggle of photographers and hangers on. My estimate of numbers was;

Demonstrators 500
Police 200
Photographers 200
Hangers on 100
Spectators 500

Unfortunately the loudspeaker system was woeful, and I couldn't understand a word of their rants, but presume it was anti Bush type stuff.

This is a take off of an advertisement by the Australian Government urging people to report domestic or personal violence.
The people with this sign knew what the demonstration was all about. Most of the others had absolutely no idea
   Police galore
Reinforcements come in by bicycle (there was an equine flu scare at the time!)
Sort of, you are not gonna get past here folks.
Free trade at full speed, good entrepreneurs are not ones to miss and opportunity. Lots of badges and mementoes to sell.
There you are, told you free trade was good.
However make sure you have a selection of signs. Guess this bloke was paid by Bush to provide a counter view.
Tony Abbot would hve been pleased. Good to see how people view their local politicians.
And the anti nukers had their say, I thought they had disappeared, oh well, still some old timers around.
And the anti zionist, pro Palistinians were there with their beaut bill board.
Now we are getting to the nitty gritty of What this demo was really about
Indeed, what about diarrhoea, got to get these demos into perspective.
Now don't forget about Tibet, I was surprised the dali lama didn't turn up.
Even the christians were there, they had a ting about greed.
No Placard, no worries, just paste it onto you bicycle. Wasn't just quite sure what the message was, between sewage, fat and dil. Ah well, doesn't matter
Must have been the university economists view on APEC.
Here we have a Human Rights Monitor. Main job was to photograph police it seems. He objected to be photographed and hurled his hoons at me, but they were a bit stymied because I was right next to the police :-)
Another monitor, they really didn't like being photographed.
