Ah - So That's How They Do It

ANUs 50 KW Thermal Generator

In the foreground, you can see the construction of a parabolic dish, either to replace or supplement the existing 50 KW generator you can see in the background.

So it is constructed upside down on the ground and the no doubt lifted into place. As I ride past there every few months, I will look forward to the final result.

Energy bars

A previous attempt at making energy bars ended in disaster. However, this attempt proved more successful.

Chopping up the almonds

The final result

Ingredients
2 bananas
1/2 cup dates
1/2 cup almonds
50-60 gms coconut flakes
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 cups oats
1 tbsp honey
1 egg
100 gm butter

Cut up the bananas, dates and almonds and mix in a bowl with the coconut flakes, cinnamon, oats.
Then beat up the egg, melt the butter and put into the bowl with the honey.
Mix thoroughly.

Prepare and grease a baking dish with ovenproof paper and place the mixture into the baking dish, making it firm.

Place in an oven at 200 degrees C for about 15 minutes.

Remove and slice up while still warm

Ubuntu-8.10 - After a Week

I put the latest Ubuntu on this 32 bit machine last week. There are some things I don't like, compared to the 8.04 installation, the main one, I can't get it to 1280x1024 resolution. It is using "No Proprietary Drivers" but haven't worked out how to get them in anyway.

On reflection, a few things I don't like probably result from being accustomed to 8.04 which I have built up over the last 6 months.

By far the worst thing is the default wall paper, yukkie!!!!! Very rapidly changed it to that like in two posts ago

The pluses are of course that all the libraries are in the normal path, and for a while at least, won't have go building them in /opt.

So will probably stick with it till what will it be, 9.04?

Frame Lock

Meant to be a bike lock, but looks like everything has gone, except the frame.

From Bicycle Defects

Actually the bottom bracket was still in place, but perhaps if I returned tomorrow, it too would have gone!
